This passion blossomed into a local sensation, initially as a food truck and now a burgeoning restaurant chain. While their signature birria tacos — made with high-quality, slow-simmered meat and fresh, chili-oil-dipped tortillas — are the star, Mike's Red Tacos offers a diverse menu designed to satisfy all cravings.
Mike's Red Tacos launched in 2021 as a food truck, brought to life with an investment by co-founders Andrew Feghali and Mike Touma. This initial venture quickly gained a loyal following for its unique birria tacos.
Building on the food truck's immense popularity, Mike's Red Tacos expanded its footprint in 2022 by opening its first brick-and-mortar location in San Diego's Clairemont area.
In 2023, Mike's Red Tacos achieved significant recognition, being named among Yelp's Top 100 Restaurants in the United States, a testament to their exceptional quality and flavor.
Growth continued in 2024 with the opening of a second location in the Midway District. This year also saw a strategic IP partnership agreement and successful seed investment, setting the stage for broader expansion.
